Ashburton operating theatre and wards comprised construction of a new integrated operating theatre and acute assessment unit building adjacent to the existing hospital wards buildings.  It also included upgrades to the existing ward buildings to provide updated spaces along with earthquake repairs and seismic strengthening of the building.

We were integral in the process of value managing the design to meet the users requirements and also the project budget.  Before these projects proceeded through the concept design gateway to preliminary design, it was ensured a project scope was in place which would be attainable within the project budget.  The market also played a role but this didn’t necessarily reflect design compromises, more that procurement options needed to deal with the tendering market constraints.
