Project Description

Client:

Nexus Point Limited

Project Value:

$45 million

The first new commercial building to open in Cathedral Square during Canterbury’s earthquake rebuild, the prominent and visible location of the Spark Christchurch new build demanded a building of special quality and design excellence. Structurally, low-damage design and tenant flexibility were identified as priorities for this project. In recognition of excellence in workmanship, construction practices and innovation, this building has won the Gold Award – Commercial Project, in the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards 2021.

The five storey mixed-use building houses Spark New Zealand as the primary tenant taking the three large floors of office space, while high-end retail and hospitality spaces activate Hereford Street and Colombo Street, and open onto a plaza overlooking Cathedral Square to the north. A restaurant and bar with a large outdoor terrace occupy the rooftop space.

The project achieved Level 5 Green Star Design rating due to several sustainability features and innovative end-of-trip facilities.

We provided full pre and post-contract quantity surveying services with accurate and timely budgetary information based on our past experience and direct engagement with the market to allow the opportunity to review and provide feedback which could then be incorporated into design documents. We worked tenaciously over the course of the entire project by providing stable, consistent and objective cost advice. This reliability and responsiveness of service give our Clients the confidence they need when making important decisions.
