Project Description

Client:

Cooper & Company

Project Value:

$36 million

Westpac Charter House is a ‘Green’ office development in the Britomart Precinct, downtown Auckland.  Construction of the 9,000m² commercial space included basement car park and refurbishment of heritage buildings.

Rescued after years of neglect, Charter House has been almost completely rebuilt and is now integrated into the new Charter Customs building.  The original build date of Charter House is unknown, but at the turn of the twentieth century it existed as a single-storey building on a site fronting Breakwater Road, now known as Britomart Place.

The ground floor includes street level retail, with office floors above which link through into ‘Charter House’, which was refurbished as part of this project.

The building follows Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles and earned a 4 star Green Star Rating using the New Zealand Green Building Council ‘Green Star’ tool.

We were responsible for initial project feasibility studies, estimates, cost plan monitoring, contractor procurement, construction cost management through to final account agreement, tax depreciation tables and facilities management cost advice.
