Project Description

Client:

The Arts Centre Trust

Project Value:

$2 million

The first restoration stage of this heritage rated category 1 building included some demolition, removing tagging, reinstating existing timber floors, doors, architraves and wall panelling, through to complete seismic strengthening works.

First, the existing stone external walls were removed and then replaced with new external concrete walls, then putting the original stonework back in place as the external finish.

The building was then further secured through expansion of existing ground beam foundations, floor bracing and wall strapping to internal walls and steel structural strengthening to the roof to allow installation of new chimneys.

There was full removal and replacement of gutters, downpipes and rainwater heads, the heating and ventilation system, toilet facilities, wash hand basins and a full upgrade of the electrical and fire systems was completed.
